Maps of the Month

Use the Map of the Month with lessons to build and apply important skills and concepts. Teachers can use the maps for their own lessons. Students can include them in presentations or reports.

Here’s A Tip!

• In StrataLogica, use the Land Cover and Google Earth maps to see the Galapagos Islands in detail. Zoom into where the Equator crosses Fernandina Island to see its highest point, the Wolf Volcano.
• Model the lesson using the Land Cover Series—World and South America wall maps (1LC99 and 1LC6).
• Have students look on page 21 of The Nystrom Junior Geographer Atlas or Atlas para los Jóvenes Geógrafos for more information about islands.
• Take a closer, hands-on look at the Pacific Ocean using Map and Globe Skills, Lesson 10.
